I think the only way to test it is releasing the update and if something gets wrong an issue can be opened. I think it's fine but without test always there's a chance for some issue.

Seeing that you're the one keeping Guayadeque alive and it is still "beta" I see no reason not to release it and hope for feedback from the community. That's the only way to figure out how a release works on different distros, under different circumstances, with different hardware...

NB I used the 67825ee commit step I had not seen your correction for Apple deprecated code when I packaged
about jsoncpp versions Mageia9 uses 1.9.4 (with warning for Apple when building before you corrected it) Mageia Cauldron uses 1.9.5 : no warning for Apple (no warning for Apple when building)
This is specific of jsoncpp 1.9.4 !
I'm updating Changelog properly in case this fork become official in the future.
