Actually, I've tried this on two separate projects and it hasn't worked for some reason. I'm not sure why

@cllns Oh good, it's not just me. I believe it has to do with how Middleman looks for the file (with the .css filetype), whereas the partials are only used by Sass. I'll close this, but thanks for looking for ways to simplify things!
