It isn't density by itself, as this is the per capita rate (so is adjusting for the number of people). But if you think of it as an event that takes place in a Doctor's surgery and include the number of children and the number of doctors in the DHB, the overall effect goes away.
Looking at the plots, I wonder if it's population density that is driving the changes in prescription behaviour as one travels north?
Auckland kind of stands out.
