Impossible to login using SeaMonkey browser #143

Open RainerBielefeld opened 4 years ago

RainerBielefeld commented 4 years ago

The problem has been described at Bug 1634973 Impossible to log in to addons.thunderbird.net Currently it's unclear (to me) whether this is a problem with SeaMonkey or with the website (or both?)
Can you please check and tell your resume?

Can you log in on AMO with Seamonkey? How about on https://accounts.firefox.com/ ?

If the answer to these is no then this might not be fixable.

So based on the linked bug it sounds like this is an issue with the Firefox Accounts site doing bad user agent sniffing. I think an issue here: https://github.com/mozilla/fxa/issues needs to be filed.

Your suspect war right, I can't login to FF-Accounts (any longer?). I will do some studies in Firefox Accounts Overview and then probably file a bug report there.

I found a workaround - the problem with not being able to login occurs if Seamonkey is set to either "Identify as Firefox", or to "Identify as SeaMonky and advertise Firefox compatibility", but does not occur when set to "Identify as SeaMonkey" (under Advanced -> HTTP Networking).

In order to keep identifying as Firefox or advertise Firefox compatibility, I set this parameter in prefs.js: user_pref("general.useragent.override.firefox.com", "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 SeaMonkey/2.53.3"); to Identify af SeaMonkey at firefox.com

Thx for the workaround.

Cannot reproduce in SeaMonkey 2.53.14.
