Unable To Import Profile #203

Open taffod opened 3 years ago

taffod commented 3 years ago

System Info:

UBUNTU 18.04 Thunderbird 68.10.0 (64-bit) I can export a complete profile, but when I try to import it on another machine, I get as far as a pop up screen that looks like it is going to work: (attached screenshot) But, it is impossible to press the next button (or the cancel) either by mouse, or N or Ctl N or alt N, or Enter. This used to work well, I imagine it is just a temporary glitch?

taffod commented 3 years ago

Same goes with Ubuntu 20.04.

cleidigh commented 3 years ago

@taffod thanks for the post, sorry for the issue let me try my Mint VM what version of the extension are you using? Christopher

taffod commented 3 years ago

Thanks for the fast response. Version number is 10.0.4 dated 10 Dec 20 Sorry for not including before. Mike

Also,

Just tried retro fitting V10.0.0 . No change sadly

@taffod on my mint VM which is a 19x system I was successful this was the same system not a different one did you ever try that on your original system Also I have heard of issues concerning 20x with Thunderbird for the record can you tell me when the last time it worked? last question, does your dialogue look like mine below? image

I am having this exact same issue as described. After the browse file/name profile dialogue pops up, I have to force kill Thunderbird if I want to get out of it.

System Info: Export Machine: Ubuntu 18.04 Import Machine: Linux Mint 20.1 Both machines using: Thunderbird 68.10.0 (64-bit) and most recent ImportExportToolsNG

@jonzdev did you see my comments above? can you port the profile on the original 18 system? my 19 is okay, I am wondering about 20 Christopher

taffod commented 3 years ago

@cleidigh

Attached a screen Screenshot from 2021-02-08 10-43-39 shot. yes, my dialogue box looks like yours. It will tell me if I select (via Browse) an invalid profile directory, and only seems t enable the 'next' box after completing the 'name' box. However, the next r cancel buttons wont accept a 'press'. Yes I have tried reporting to the same 20.04 system. Same symptoms. Will try shortly on an old 18.04 system, which is the last time I seem to remember it working.

taffod commented 3 years ago

Update. On Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS.

Symptoms identical with TB 68.10.0 (64-bit) and latest version of addon.

No change - doesn't work. Retrofitted addon back as far as 10.0 No change. Retrofitted addon to V 4.1.0. It works! haven't tried this on UBUNTU 20 yet.

Hope this helps.

taffod commented 3 years ago

Same with UBUNTU 20.04.

If I retro fit your addon V 4.1.0, it works well.

All later versions display the symptoms as listed above.

@taffod I was also able to setup a 20.1 system however more importantly I can reproduce the problem and I know the issue. the custom wizard element had some changes that cause the problem in at least 68.10 and 68.12 I believe regardless of OS ironically it works on 78.x I am already close to a a HTML replacement I can probably post a beta today but probably rough. I have fixed sufficiently already know it will work. I will alert here when I post Christopher

cleidigh commented 3 years ago

@taffod @jonzdev I believe I have the functionality reproduced, needs some layout feedback welcome Christopher

jonzdev commented 3 years ago

@cleidigh Just tested on the same system configurations. It worked without further issues. Thank you!

taffod commented 3 years ago

It works perfectly on 18.04. Thank you. Not tried in 20.04 yet.

cleidigh commented 3 years ago
