Start backup anew #403

Can I do a clean start of backup? I had been using Save: "Always all file". Now I want to use the incremental option. Can't clear the "Last backup" date and time. Deleted all previous backups and now only get what's changed. Am I missing something? Found this: image Can I delete or maybe set to zero?

cleidigh commented 1 year ago

@Thefaroah If you do a full backup on exit then charge to incremental does that work? @cleidigh

Thefaroah commented 1 year ago

That appears to have done the trick. First save took a while, as expected. Second one (after changing to "Just files modified.....), went much faster. Here's my settings: image Look OK?

@Thefaroah Looks good to me... @cleidigh

What is a "modal" window? Checked/unchecked seems to do nothing.

cleidigh commented 1 year ago

@Thefaroah A modal dialog is on that stops the system waiting for a response until the program will allow any other interactions with the program. @cleidigh

Another question: What's the difference between export and full backup/incremental? To me, it appears what is save is the same. And export is a whole lot faster.

cleidigh commented 1 year ago

@Thefaroah Incremental is just files changed since last backup. @cleidigh

Suggestion: Could you add a confirmation message after a backup or export (others?) I know it shows on the bottom for export, but it only shows for a couple of seconds.

cleidigh commented 1 year ago

@Thefaroah I think making the message timeout much longer is the thing to do. Several people ask for fewer pop ups. I also really can't be adding anything as I am panicking to finish for 115 by July 1. @cleidigh

@Thefaroah Well I hope you are bored, I have lots to do for the release and your help will be much appreciated 👍 You will also be glad I have added a button for the tools operations, exp/imp profile, backup, options and help. b1 is quite close to 100% current functionality, but lots more testing needed. I should have it up by end of day. @cleidigh

Tried to install ver 14. Got this: image Yes... sometimes I do get bored. Oops. Just saw it's for TB 115. Too quick on the draw.

cleidigh commented 1 year ago

@Thefaroah yup gotta install TB beta. I need to add that to notes. @cleidigh

Thefaroah commented 1 year ago

Chris, I'm gonna have to bow out of this test temporarily. Love doing this kind of stuff, but can't take a chance on venturing into TB beta releases on my main system. I'm going to fire up a laptop, bring it up-to-date and install TB 115

@Thefaroah No problem, I get it. @cleidigh
