Hi, Christopher (cleidigh), This might not be the appropriate place to post this - but it is an "issue" for me.....How do I donate to you? I have used this tool for imports of Apple Mail, outlook mail, calendars, contacts,tasks and notes - it is an awesome tool. While there is a donation link to the original author, I can't find a link to you. If there is an obvious way to do this, I apologize for not finding it. Adamoth

@adamoth I bet our posts crossed each other, I replied to your LocalFolder's review , but missed the fact you had also done a review for ImportExportTools NG. This is the biggest extension I took over as the original author decided to stop Thunderbird development. As you can imagine this extension is very important too many users , over half a million actually. This NG version is rapidly gaining users converting from the original. The importance is such that I have been asked to work on bringing functionality into the core of Thunderbird. Part of that exercise will involve determining the exact functionality to bring in and in what order.

You have used it in multiple ways and it appears both OS X and Windows. Feedback and suggestions from users like yourself will be very helpful for the process. Would you be interested in communicating about both your experience and use of and interest in particular issues?

Re: you requested about donations, as I mentioned in your review response I got involved in working with Thunderbird when there were some issues with extensions at my wife's office where I have been having her use Thunderbird for years. One thing led to another and all of a sudden I hatch for extensions I was maintaining from people who could not. I also became a semiofficial extension developer liaison, which is now official. The incredible reward is that despite having ALS and having deprogrammed completely by voice, I'm doing the engineering I've been doing for thirty five years, that's worth more than any money!!

Thunderbird is no longer under the Mozilla umbrella as far as funding , but the core team is expanding and supported by individual and corporate donations. If it suits you can make a big difference donating to the overall project.

Hopefully not too much information... Very interested to hear you would like to provide more input! @cleidigh

@cleidigh Thank you for your response and the information. Sorry our paths crossed....I think I just got excited I had found a tool that worked so well and was free instead of the $39 to $79 I found in my online research.

Re my uses on the Mac and on Windows 10 (and, I hang my head in shame, .....Windows 7 because I haven't made the move yet on one of my old machines). I started a "what to do" note in case I needed to repeat the process which I will clean it up and send to you via this forum. I also used the Local Folders extension on the Mac and had some head-scratching moments with that one too. But I will also include my steps and let you see what I did there. The Remove Duplicate Messages extension seems to work both on the Mac and Win7/10. The calendar didn't quite work as I expected and I am also trying to get the contacts/address book functionality working (the extension I want to use doesn't work with TB68) so I'm improvising.

The donation suggestion works for me but I wish you could receive some of it, especially since a number of companies are selling a Mac to TB converter for $39 or more and the original creator has a web page with a donation button which, it appears from comments, people are using.

On a personal note and, I hope I don't sound too clichéd, ALS is a horrible disease but you appear to have done things I could not/would not have imagined possible. So, if I can do a small bit to help you, I'm in! @adamoth

@adamoth Thanks again for the support! I am thinking of adding a donation button and doing 50/50 with the Thunderbird donation.

Question: I'm curious about your imports and exports, do you have any idea of the number of e-mails the total data? I am really struggling with some limits in terms of lots of data.

I'm doing the best I can with ALS, believe it or not the best therapy is work ! my biggest problem is I'm slower than the past and I want to solve problems as quickly as possible. Honestly, supportive and interested users like yourself make all worth it ;-)

@cleidigh Sorry for the delay....

The data imported and exported totals about 688.88 MB a total of 38,456 items - that was on the MAC. Total of 5 email accounts with regular inboxes and about 25 Smart Mailboxes. The export from Windows to Mac was about 3.75GB a total of 429 items, 2 mailboxes and a local folder filled with over 30 sub-folders. Does that help?

@adamoth That is very helpful and represents a pretty big import. I am really struggling with the issue with large imports so it's great to hear you did not have a problem. The tips you wrote are great! I just have to get them altogether and write something when I have time. Still have to do the donate button ;-) @cleidigh

@adamoth Thanks for the encouragement! I waited to add a donate button until v4.1.0 was submitted - will be live . after review. @cleidigh
