Since the Card View is being enhanced (or so I hear), my suggestion is to first develop a help article on 'Message List View' and use that to explain the features of Table View and Card View, plus instructions on switching from one to another. Then, instead of explaining how to verify Card vs Table here, just link to the new article. The help article for message list columns at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/message-list-columns would also benefit be a link there, as any help topic that touches the message list pane is a probable target for a link to the table/card article. My intent in this suggestion is to have it done once and not repeated in multiple places.

My suggested wording would be to have a step preceding step 1 under "Applying threading to other folders" to be such as "The next step requires that Thunderbird be in Card View. Information on that is avalailable at .
