Support for IMAP shared (not under INBOX) folders #1342

Open olivluca opened 8 years ago

olivluca commented 8 years ago

In an imap account I can only see folders under the INBOX. There are several company wide folders that are not under INBOX (they're top level folders) that I cannot see with K-9 Mail

Environment

K-9 Mail version: 5.010

Android version: 5.1

Account type (IMAP, POP3, WebDAV/Exchange): IMAP - server Cyrus imapd

I see this is already in the Implementation of missing IMAP features and extensions, Support for multiple namespaces wiki page. Should I close the issue or leave it open to track its progress?

Hi, In my company, we use the public folders in dovecot to share mail folders between different accounts. I can access them in K9mail, but in the folder list I get all existing public folders, so a very long list, and not only the few I've subscribed to. Imap allows to share subscriptions to public folders, it's synchronized between my thunderbird and rainloop for example, so would it be possible to get it in K9mail, and show only subscribed folders ?

@tomdereub: There's Account settings > Fetching mail > Incoming server > Show only subscribed folders. You can also manually configure which folders to show, see https://k9mail.app/documentation/folders

In the future please use the forum for support requests.

Not off-topic, just asking for an ETA/updates.

This issue has been there for like 5 years and 2 years since the last activity and other issues reference this one.

Hi, any news on this topic?
It is a blocking feature, I mean, we cannot use it, because lack of this feature: shared folders are not visible for users.
Otherwise, k-9 could be really good.

version: 6.202

UPDATE: I just modified the account settings and unchecked the "Imap namespace auto discovery" and I left empty the "Imap path pretag" or whatever (I have Hungarian version, I do now know, what is it in English, but you can understand, I guess).
Now I can see everything, my own folders under INBOX/, while all other user's shared folders under user/*/ folders.

So, technically I can see everything right now.
Small problem, the old cyrus imap server shown folders duplicated, so, little bit strange, but still could work, until it will be fine adjusted.
