Problem you are trying to solve

In the F-Droid upgrade to Thunderbird Beta, I lost my black theme for the background. This dark gray is subjectively uglier on OLED & consumes a bit more energy which is a lose-lose in my book.

Suggested solution

Either allow a “black” theme option, or just make the dark theme #000.

Ah it seems searching for black came up with nothing but this Microsoft GitHub issue is the same request https://github.com/thunderbird/thunderbird-android/issues/8432. Seems folks are passionate about not having dark gray.
