Fixes #436

Mission statement as described here: https://thunderbird.topicbox.com/groups/planning/T82a50212b4d24bab-M1356dbf3bfbb40b9495c02cd

Original PR from @ryanleesipes: https://github.com/thundernest/thunderbird-website/pull/257

Comes in two flavours! Pick your favourite!

Flavour 2 (html not included in this pr) Screen Shot 2023-05-29 at 15 33 15-fullpage

Also playing around with @KillYourFM's suggestion about placing it below Free Download. I don't think that would exactly work out design-wise but a link doesn't seem too intrusive. (Not pictured in the above screenshots, but this does it add to the "Free Download" link list on About Us as well.)

I tightened up the spacing in flavour 2, if folks prefer that level of spacing, I can adjust it for 1.

If I get a vote, I like #2. And, I think it's great to have a link under "Free Download".

Agreed, #2 looks great (and will look even better after the new team photo)

Updated flavour 2 with a slightly bigger image (50% -> 75%). Also made the sizing look a little more consistent.

But if that sizing is all good, then this is good to merge I think.

@KillYourFM @wsmwk Thanks for your inputs too, the more the merrier!

Small wording question: Should we adjust the "Our Mission Statement" (from the small link text) to just "Our Mission", or should we adjust the about us section to be titled "Out Mission Statement".

Sancus commented 1 year ago

Lets not do that link under the download button. It looks really unbalanced, and those links are for information directly related to the desktop client. Not organizational.

I don't think we want to do it in this PR, but I think maybe long term we should considering changing the main menu "About us" to "Our Mission" and redesigning that page to be more focused on our mission, because it's a more compelling phrase and it's also the most important part of "about us". Everything else on that page(the Council, our community and how it works, etc) stems directly from our mission.

I've removed the link under the download button. I'll hold off on renaming "About us" to "Our Mission", but I will make a note of that.
