Have traced a peculiarity back to @day-garwood's PR, twat. I understand the British pronunciation is like that, but from what I've heard the American pronunciation is as it was without an entry in the first place. @amirsol81 any comments?

day-garwood commented 9 months ago

I actually didn't think Americans used that word. If the American pronunciation was OK originally then feel free to remove. I've seen other entries that I added have also been removed - clearly I gave you quite a few duff entries in that PR. Sorry about that. Cheers.

@ultrasound1372 Sorry for asking, but which word or words?

GeorgeWu3 commented 9 months ago

Here are some words that I want to put into the dictionary sorry that I put it during last minute around the 29th of November. krazy Which is supposed to be Crazy Wang Which is supposed to be Wong Imessage Sobel Which is supposed to be pronounced as Soble enes

ultrasound1372 commented 9 months ago

@amirsol81 I was referring specifically to 'twat' in that comment.

amirsol81 commented 9 months ago

@ultrasound1372 I just removed "twat" as part of the latest commit. The original Eloquence pronunciation is preferred in US English.

amirsol81 commented 9 months ago

@GeorgeWu3 Imessage, krazy, Wang, and Sobel were just added.

GeorgeWu3 commented 9 months ago

Thanks. Would it be possible that you can release a second dictionary of the month containing some of my changes please? thanks.

amirsol81 commented 9 months ago

@GeorgeWu3 While it's not doable at this stage because no serious mistakes have been corrected, you can always grab the latest dictionary changes using the following URL without having to wait for each monthly official release: https://github.com/thunderdrop/IBMTTSDictionaries/archive/refs/heads/master.zip

GeorgeWu3 commented 9 months ago

Eloquence pronounces Nazar rong. enes Is mispronounced. thanks.

amirsol81 commented 9 months ago

@GeorgeWu3 How should "Enes" be pronounced? And how about "Nazar?" Since the latter is apparently an Arabic word, I think what Eloquence says isn't wrong.

GeorgeWu3 commented 9 months ago

I think eloquence pronounced Nazir as na zar If you change your synthesizer to Windows one core, it says that properly. Same thing goes to Enes.

amirsol81 commented 9 months ago

@GeorgeWu3 I just added "Enes" and "Nazir" to Root as part of the latest commit. Note that I added "Nazir" not "Nazar" as you've mentioned both, and I'm assuming that you meant "Nazir."

GeorgeWu3 commented 9 months ago

thanks Some of mad gamers' words that he's trying to contribute back in August that are not in the Dictionary, like address and exit. I more prefer his pronunciation of address and exit. I wonder if you can put that to the commit please? Here is the link to the August discussion. thanks. https://github.com/thunderdrop/IBMTTSDictionaries/issues/36

GeorgeWu3 commented 9 months ago

My mistake, the rute word that I want to change before is Nizar. I wonder if you can remove that and Put it as a new spelling please? thanks.

amirsol81 commented 9 months ago

@GeorgeWu3 The point is that Eloquence isn't mispronouncing "exit" and "address." These are just 2 pronunciation variants, and we tend to fix mispronunciations. "Exit" once was in the dictionary, and then we had to correct words like "Brexit" and "Calexit." Moreover, some people liked the original "exit" pronunciation and kept complaining about the entry.

amirsol81 commented 9 months ago

@GeorgeWu3 OK, "Nizar" will be added in the next commit. And "Nazir" will be kept in Root as it's also a valid word.

GeorgeWu3 commented 9 months ago

thanks. Would it be possible to implement most of our community dictionaries to the British English?

GeorgeWu3 commented 9 months ago

I'm from Canada, so the way some people in Canada pronounce The word address is with the a sound, not the u sound.

amirsol81 commented 9 months ago

@GeorgeWu3 Making the current dictionaries available for UK English is a herculean task and we can't do it easily. Moreover, many words have been corrected for US English so altering them would take time. I think UK English users should take a stab at it if they want to. As for the word "address," Eloquence is doing the right thing according to all US English dictionaries. Placing the emphasis on the second syllable, dress, is the suggested pronunciation both for the noun form and the verb form. Emphasizing the first syllable, the a part, might sound good for its noun form, but sounds a bit odd for the verb form. So it would be better not to alter it.
