We hear you.
Around a year ago, we attempted to change the price levels to harmonize with the graph in the app, but it caused a lot of friction and people were very unhappy with the result, even though we tried to do it in a backwards compatible way.
It's not easy to do this and please everyone.
One crux of the matter is that the Homey app uses 5 levels, whereas the Tibber mobile app uses 3 levels, so if you have different flows for CHEAP
and VERY_CHEAP
, or EXPENSIVE
and VERY_EXPENSIVE
, all those flows would break.
One could argue that we could tweak the algorithm, but with the current price volatility, it's difficult to come up with an algorithm that will match user expectations, and changing that now might break people's preexisting flows.
You could, however, write flows based on the actual total
value instead of using level
.
Throughout the weekend, almost only Normal electricity prices were reported from the Tibber system. I feel that it is very problematic that this is not coordinated with the colors on the graph and the average price. I use these variables to control things in my house. But now I feel it is useless.
