The modeling of academic event as a planned process that is classified via an event format specification needs to be improved.
Take into consideration what is done within OBO wrt a general process pattern (see also: www.semantic-web-journal.net/system/files/swj3096.pdf)
Take into consideration how events are modeled in GSSO which reuses EFO:event as it also contains a conference class.
Get in touch with GSSO developers to coordinate.
Try to model it coherently in AEON first as a draft that can be discussed as an alternative to the GSSO way.
I cannot see a difference between EFO:event and BFO:process.
It definitely makes sense to have a more abstract class for those kinds of sociocultural events that are not planned, but in the scope of AEON we are only interested in those that are planned. I don't think GSSO would be the perfect place for such a general class. COB seems to be the most suitable candidate but is also still too WIP to be used in AEON.
