"Pipe" is feminine in French, #212

so it's "une pipe" NOT "un pipe" ;-(

The English word is masculin though. It should be pronounced as "Ceci n'est pas un païpe".

      The French Wiktionary lists it as both feminine and masculine:  It's masculine for a vertical bar, "|", used in command line programming.  It's feminine for a musical instrument or an object to hold some substance like tobacco while smoking it and other uses of the term.

      ... which Stefan Milton Bache stefan@stefanbache.dk pointed out to me 2020-06-23 in response to my original post on this question.  I pretend to read French regularly, but I don't do it enough to pick up on subtleties like this without the kind help from people like Stefan Milton Bache!

yup exactly :) This is what makes "ceci n'est pas un pipe" witty.
