compilation error on Amazon Linux 2 using gcc 7.3.1 #1085

I am using R version 3.4.3 on Amazon Linux 2 (platform x86_64-koji-linux-gnu). Any idea what could be the issue?

R 3.5.0 is required for INTEGER_ELT https://github.com/tidyverse/purrr/blob/fe11742256d7bebe4912a40d4ee21998d3e4109b/DESCRIPTION#L16

But i dont think we should add that here

Oh but the version bump isn't on CRAN yet and didn't get a NEWS bullet https://github.com/tidyverse/purrr/pull/1046

We should probably add a news bullet for that
