Speed up the package build time #8

Right now the package takes forever to build.

Look into ways to make the build time faster so that I can get more work done.

It's possible that the large files in extdata/ could be slowing things down (see here).

Editing the R CMD INSTALL options might be a good way to reduce the build time (see here).

Adding --no-inst to R CMD INSTALL dramatically reduces the build time:

Hmm... after doing this some of the changes I made were not included in the rebuild. 🤔

Then I tried clicking the 'Clean and Rebuild' option and the changes were included... not sure why that was necessary.
