Can you try on the unibody Macbook with Audirvana launched in 32bit (and not
64bit) mode (selection done in the Finder (Cmd+I on Audirvana)) ?
I want to know if it is a old macbook issue, or a 32bit issue.
FYI, I coded the Integer Mode with a Halide Bridge for tests. I had it hooked
to a 64bit macbook pro unibody.

Same issue on my Mac mini below.
- Mac mini A1176 , Core Duo 1.83GHz , 2GB RAM
- 10.6.7 , 32bit
- audirvana 0.8.3
- audio I/F is UDIF7
My Mac book pro (Core 2 duo 2.26GHz , 10.6.7 32 bit , 8GB RAM) is no problem.
Working fine on Integer mode with same audio I/F in case mac mini.
Thanks,
Mitsuru

Mac Mini - Core 2 Duo 1.83GHz
1GB RAM
10.6.7 - 32Bit
Audirvana 0.8d
Integer Mode - ON
I also get the Popping Noise along with the CPU Over Red Flashing warning on
the player.
DAC is an Ayre QB-9 fed by a direct USB to USB connection

I can reproduce the problem with both Audirvana and Decibel. The problem does
not seem specific to the integer mode implementation of Audirvana.
As a workaround, you may try to connect a USB hub between the computer and the
dac!

I have tried that and confirmed no popping noise on integer mode !
- Mac mini A1176 , Core Duo 1.83GHz , 2GB RAM
- 10.6.7 , 32bit
- audirvana 0.9.1
- audio I/F is UDIF7
Sound is much better than non integer mode.
What is reason why USB hub connection does not have popping noise ??

The reason is due to a flaw in Apple design. Don't know exactly where it stands
between CoreAudio drivers and USB implementation though.

I have the CPU Over and popping problem on small FLAC files (e.g. 100 MB) when
a few other programs are running, but it becomes unlistenable when I play a
large FLAC file (e.g. 660MB) even if nothing else is open.
What puzzles me is why the same file plays perfectly well when I drop it into
the Vox player (using V.0.2.8 beta 2).
- iMac Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz , 4GB RAM
- 10.6.8
- audirvana 0.9.5
