Is your content request related to a problem you've encountered during your research process? Please describe.

There is a lot of great content out there about experimental research, but when trying to find a quick how-to guide for master's students, I'm struggling to get a comprehensive resource and need to refer them to multiple book chapters. Also, econ-based guides focus too much on potential outcomes etc, whereas psych guides are too focused on construct development/validity. Would be nice to have a tutorial/building block that combines these streams and synthesizes some stuff from book chapters (e.g shadish cook and campbell, or gerber and green) to:

  1. introduce the basic intuition behind RCTs
  2. introduce scale development, internet/external validity and balance checks at a high (masters thesis) level
  3. provide a summary of methods to analyse experimental data w/ links to external resources when appropriate (e.g ANOVA/ANCOVA/linear reg/causal mediation)
  4. provide examples of the most simple designs (w/ links to the book chapters for more complex ones) A running example using a sample dataset on R could demonstrate the basic concepts.

Would you like this to be a Building Block or a Tutorial?

I don't know

Purpose

getting students up to speed on experimental methods and how to analyse experimental data on R

sounds fun / interesting.

on RCT/experiment are we thinking along the lines of A/B tests and the like to more the classic CB experiments?

Struggling to see how to action this into a set of items ... let's find a time to brainstorm how we can map this into a set of building blocks we can assign to the team?

Sounds good -- my thought was to touch upon both paradigms at a high level, though focusing more on the A/B test part given that's closer in spirit to the rest of TSH/also what we have experience with. Will chat more to flesh this out better!

I still like this request and think we should eventually have someone to work on this. What needs to be done for someone to take it up?
