I said this on discord, but it probably bears repeating here. Jellysquid is probably mistaken (?) when she says this was an intentional decision, as afaik vanilla changed to the new behavior in 1.21. I completely understand the choice to stay with the admittedly much more helpful metric from 1.20.6-, but to me it seemed more like it was an oversight that it wasn't fixed, and it was a decision there and then to keep the old code instead of a previous design decision? Either way, not hard to fix, kinda annoying sodium has drifted from a stricter adherence to vanilla parity from a speedrunning perspective but I understand that mission statement doesn't drive mod downloads :P
sodium can't be bothered to fix obvious parity issues in their mod now, so i guess we have to see: https://github.com/CaffeineMC/sodium-fabric/issues/2537
