Tilemill crashing awhile after opening OSMBright project [Error: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::bad_alloc'] #1812

Open teakay opened 11 years ago

teakay commented 11 years ago

Previously I succeeded to load and open OSMBright project, after took a long time caching and processing OSMBright template. But the template run heavily on tilemill and couldn't open others application, so I try to reinstall OSMBright template and delete osm database.

In second attempt to install OSMBright I encounter problem when try to open OSMBright template on the first time. After loading template for a while then tilemill will crash and show error as below:

[tilemill] [millstone] detected extension od '.zip' for '~/Documents/MapBox/cache/ab6b4f6f-shoreline_300/ab6b4f6f-shoreline_300.xip' [tilemill] terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::bad_alloc' [tilemill] what(): std::bad_alloc [tilemill] Error: shild process: "tile" failed with signal "SIGABRT" [tilemill] Closing child process: core (pid:2382) [tilemill] Closing child process: tile (pid:2383) [tilemill] Closing child process: client (pid:2390) Exiting [tilemill]

Any idea whats the problem? Any help I would appreciate.

Thanks before

What operating system and how much memory do you have and how large of an extract did you import? The error 'bad_alloc' seems to indicate memory issues.

teakay commented 11 years ago

I installed tilemill on ubuntu in virtualbox. Sorry, I forgot to mention that.

So, its memory issues, then the problem is in virtualbox guest OS not tilemill?

I use 512MB memory on ubuntu and the data is only 54MB

teakay commented 11 years ago

Hi Dane,

I finally manage to successfully installed and run tilemill+OSMBright on WindowsXP.

So, please close this issue.

Sorry, for the trouble.

Thanks

Gustry commented 11 years ago

I have exactly the same problem.

My OS is Debian Wheezy. I have compiled Tilemill, nodejs and mapnik. I'm working on the Cameroon (21MB for .pbf). I have 3 Go of RAM.

This project worked very well, on larger extracts, a few weeks ago when I was on Ubuntu (same PC).

I have already reinstalled osm-bright, same errors.

Regards Etienne

springmeyer commented 11 years ago

How did you install things on Debian? And what are the errors exactly? And what exact versions of tilemill/Mapnik/nodejs did you install?

Gustry commented 11 years ago

It's the same error : root@latitude:/home/etienne/Developpement/tilemill# ./index.js Note: Unknown option "updatesVersion" in config file. Note: Unknown option "updatesTime" in config file. (I know, I'm running on root, I can't launch my user account)

Mapnik 2.1.0 Nodejs 0.10.9 Tilemill git clone of tilemill repository, so it's stable.

I have read this page : http://geoaddict.wordpress.com/2013/03/22/tilemill-install-debian-wheezy/ Is it the diff between nodejs version ?

Tilemill works well with a new project or with "geography class".

Hello have problems after you load the project: "skipped loading tilemil TileMill project: unknown error"

springmeyer commented 10 years ago

@jerryalonsomora is this with osm-bright or what project? Sounds like you have a syntax error in the project.mml.

jerryalonsomora commented 10 years ago

Hello Sprinmeyer, When trying to save the modified test project ::: say

"[tilemill] [tilemill]skipped loading: Error: UNKNOWN, read. Please report this hatps://github/mapbo/tilemill/issues"

Jerry

jerryalonsomora commented 10 years ago

I'm not sure why that would happen. Can you try two things:

jerryalonsomora commented 10 years ago

Thank you Dane!!. Look, is not even let me open the link project. I can not open the system. I deleted the program and then install it again and again not let me open the link project.

I'm not sure why that would happen. Can you try two things:

  • re-create the test project again and see if you hit the problem again
  • find the existing broken project at ~/Documents/MapBox/project/ and post it to https://gist.github.com/ then share the link. Include both the .mml and the .mss.

El proyecto no me interesa mucho. Realmente lo que quiero es que el programa TileMill me corra bien, de forma correcta ahora no me deja abrir ningún proyecto ni los de prueba. Cómo puedo solucionar que me sirva como antes?

Gracias

/cc @ian29 - can you grab this?

jerryalonsomora commented 10 years ago

The project does not interest me much. Really what I want is for the program to run TileMill me well, now properly leaves me open any project or the test. How I can solve that serves me as before?
