Loading Project Error: UNKOWN #1842

Open jennprather opened 11 years ago

I am not able to access the projects I have created within tilemill. The error message reads

[tilemill] [tilemill] skipped loading project:Error: UNKOWN, read

It told me to report it here. I have tried uninstalling and reloading the program, but is still doesn't work.

Hi @jennprather. Sorry for the trouble. Are you perhaps on Windows? Where exactly do you see this message? On windows you should be able to close the error and continue using TileMill.

Overall it sounds like some file in your projects directory ~/Documents/MapBox/project is causing trouble. Can you follow the troubleshooting steps at http://mapbox.com/tilemill/docs/troubleshooting and see if that helps?

jennprather commented 11 years ago

When I close the window, the project tab is inactive. I have attached an image that perhaps better describes the situation. I appreciate your response.
Help

Wow, that is odd. Thanks for posting the image - I've not seen this before.

Can you answer three questions for me?

1) What windows version are you on?

2) Can you post your logs for me? You can find out where they are by reading http://mapbox.com/tilemill/docs/manual/usage/

3) Lastly, can you try downloading and installing this development version of TileMill: https://github.com/downloads/mapbox/tilemill/TileMill-v0.10.2-pre-Setup.exe Let me know if that works better?

Hello again:

I am using Windows 7 Professional. I cannot locate the user log you mentioned (perhaps that is part of my problem). I have installed and uninstalled a number of times, and the link you sent has the same error. I am working with the administrators at my end to see if it may be a firewall issue.

Thank you for your time.

@jennprather - okay. Perhaps you are behind a proxy? This would be an odd error, but it is possible that is the problem. TileMill supports http proxies - you just need to set the details in the settings panel.

@jennprather - did you ever resolve this issue?
