1m DEM for New South Wales, Australia #121

Looks like NSW has better 1m and 2m DEMs available than what's in the general 5m Australia wide DEM (https://github.com/tilezen/joerd/issues/77) now!

Geoscience Australia has collaborated with NSW Spatial Services, a unit of Department of Finance Services and Innovation (DFSI), and is pleased to announce the initial release of the NSW Surface Model Enhancement (SME) product portfolio.

To access go to http://elevation.fsdf.org.au/ for1m/ 2m DEMs and Point Cloud data over NSW. Always use the help tab on the site if you are experiencing issues.

The SME product portfolio improves the resolution and quality of NSW elevation data from 25m statewide DEMs derived from contours +/- 8m in vertical accuracy to: • 5m DEM +/- 0.9m • 2m DEM +/- 0.6m • 1m DEM +/- 0.3m*

These improvements deliver greater value for existing applications and broaden the range of applications it can be used for.

Spatial Services, SME data across NSW includes:

Airborne Light Detecting and Ranging Data (LiDAR) · Classified Point Cloud Data · 1m DEM data (for Q1 Data)

· 2m DEM data (for Q2 Data)

· 5m DEM Data (for Q3 Data)

Note: On release, coverage of SME data across NSW includes 18 X 1:100,000 project areas. This portfolio will increase in coverage each month until an anticipated full state coverage is achieved by July 2018.

Geoscience Australia will load Point Cloud and 1m data over the MDBA and Tasmania in the next month replacing the 5m DEM coverage. For accessing existing Geoscience Australia DEMs and product transformations please continue to use the http://www.ga.gov.au/elvis/.
