Hello @d-r-q, @a-m-s and @Romunix. Since I've failed to overcome technical obstacles in a timely manner and I don't expect I can allocate sufficient time to address that anytime soon, I've decided to officially discontinue active development after Nuvola 4.24 is released today. More details will come in an official announcement next week.

I plan to deliver bug fixes on a best-effort basis until the final End-of-Life on December 31st, 2022. Please let me know whether you would like to support your scripts until the end or discontinue them earlier. Thanks a lot for your work. I'm sorry that I cannot keep the project in active development.
