I think this if is unnecessary, and leaving the else part only would work the same (because robot_commitment_quality is set to 0 when the robot becomes UNCOMMITTED).
But please double check... I may be wrong...
When you write the message of commit, you can indicate what you changed and then add in the commit message "this closes #5"
