PROTEUS #139

Open invaderdimz opened 1 year ago

invaderdimz commented 1 year ago

Mod information

Proteus lets you import items/characters across saves. Letting you even have multiple characters in one play through. Wanted to try this mod to see if essentially the players can switch to their Solo playthrough character.

Also has stuff to mess with NPCs, instant access their inventories.

Lets you change weather to what ever you want from a list.

You can do some Idle animations

Compatibility

Mod is compatible for it's main importing character and item importation part. Weather Control works, but only user sees changed weather.

Additional Information

Didn't test from an SKSE save to Skyrim Together save. Will try that next. Only tested importing a player character from a Skyrim Together save. Everything Synced for importing the character (like how they spawn in) both players will see this new npc come into the world. When Switching between the imported character and your current character the other player can see the process as they essentially switch places with the imported character. Tested this out with my buddy ShadowWarden!

Guide to play alone and switch back to skyrim together

  1. Continue Save left off after doing Skyrim Together, do some adventuring what ever you want.
  2. Before Saving your current character in Proteus you must rename them, You can do this by accessing Racemenu under Player maybe just rename them by number or something.
  3. now Save your renamed character through Proteus. (this will change your save/loading) (you can also stop here if you are done playing skyrim for the day)
  4. Quit to main menu and load up the save you left off with your friends.
  5. Import your renamed leveled up character
  6. Switch bodies through Switch Character option
  7. Then delete your old character through Reset Spawn/Delete Character and then click Clear/Reset Spawn
  8. Connect to your friends!

Next tests:

Glitches:

  1. The new imported character will look like the right character for the user, but other players will see a different looking character. The stats/items will be exactly imported though.
  2. When ever one player brings up the Proteus Control wheel all players will see the wheel. It isn't very intrusive as long as the other players just hit esc on their keyboard.
  3. Idle animations worked only for the user, so friends can't see you taunting or doing emotes.
  4. Using the NPC command Take Control was very glitchy, it would force both players in the NPCs view and then you can't actually control them. You would essentially be stuck like this, had to restart skyrim to get out.
  5. Racemenu access works, but only user will see changes not other players.

Note: "It is critical that you do not have two characters of the same name in the system. This will break many of the features added by the Player Module. Do not have two characters of the same name." - Proteus Dev

I realized Something I used Proteus with my friend without powerofthree's Papyrus Extender. The import Character function worked without it, https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/22854?tab=files Both of us never installed it.
