we put one on because any students could upload to the TV's, are they allowed to now?

There could still be a password, but if run through the control panel, the control panel should provide it so it doesn't have to be manually entered.

And, so the password isn't public on github, you can use bash (or python) to check for the existence of a ".password" file that contains the password, and if it doesn't exist, prompt the user for the password and then create it (with appropriate read permissions). If it does exist, read it and use the password.
