For almost a month now both GMail-desktop, Slack and Chromium have quite a few glitches regarding the GPU usage. From lockups, to 100% CPU, to complete monitor freeze (that is solved by killing the processes).
In case of Chromium and Slack the issues seems to be revolved by disabling hardware acceleration.
Thus I would propose to add such an option also for GMail-desktop. If not a configuration menu item, at least an entry in config.json.
