Timeline:
1995 I started Zip2, a Web Software Company.
1999 I sold Zip2 to Compaq for US$307 million. I founded X.com, a financial service and payment company.
2001
Interest in Space Exploration.
I went to Moscow to buy ICBMs to send payloads to Mars.
2002
Got an idea to build affordable Rockets.
I founded SpaceX.
2004 I joined Tesla.
2006 I became an investor for SolarCity. The list of basic services of the company includes design, financing and installation of solar power systems.
2007 I became the CEO of Tesla.
2010 I donated a 25-kW Solar power system. I foundation collaborated with SolarCity to donate a 25-kW solar power system to the South Bay Community Alliance's hurricane response center in Coden, Alabama.
2011 Expressed his hope to send human to Mars.
2012 SpaceX's vehicle docked with ISS for the first time.
2013 I unveiled a concept for a high-speed transportation system incorporating reduced-pressure tubes in which pressurized capsules ride on an air cushion driven by linear induction motors and air compressors.
2014 Announced Open-Sourcing Tesla Technology. Tesla would allow its technology patents to be used by anyone in good faith in a bid to entice automobile manufacturers to speed up development of electric cars.
2015 I announced the creation of OpenAI, a not-for-profit artificial intelligence (AI) research company.
2016 I founded The Boring Company. Infrastructure and Tunneling Construction Company.
2019 Traveled to China for the groundbreaking of Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory.
Education:
1989 Was entered Queen's University in Canada.
1994 Held two internships in Silicon Valley during the summer: at an energy storage start-up called Pinnacle Research Institute, which researched electrolytic ultracapacitors for energy storage, and at the Palo Alto-based start-up Rocket Science Games.
1995 Commenced a PhD in energy physics/materials science at Stanford University in California.

2012 Was awarded the Royal Aeronautical Society's highest award: a Gold Medal.

2014 Awarded the President's award for Exploration and Technology of the Explorers Club at the annual gala.
2015 Was awarded IEEE Honorary Membership.
