[JENKINS-32350] Full log in console output make Firefox freeze #7761

Open timja opened 8 years ago

Hi,

When viewing full log in console output, Firefox freeze and I have to restart it. The issue is present since many versions.

On Chrome it is really long but it works. I just compared to Travis CI which manage to display full log very smoothly, by displaying one chunk at a time.

Thanks/

orrc:

Moved from INFRA to JENKINS, as this is not a project infrastructure issue.

More of an improvement really. You're asking for the full log, Jenkins shows it. It's just that your browser (one of them) cannot keep up.

But yes, good idea. The full log has been weird for a long time.

It's more than an improvement really. I use full log regularly to debug build errors (they happens from time to time when you build after each commit) and it's really unusable with Firefox and barely with Chrome. I have a quad core i5-3570 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 14Go of RAM and a SSD on my workstation so it shouldn't be an issue to load a page full of text.

Thanks for your quick answer !

Use the (stupidly named) View as plain text link in the sidepanel to download the log, then view in a good text editor such as Sublime Text.

I believe this issue is obsolete. Even for larger outputs, latest couple of Firefox versions (using 71.0 at the moment) do not have any problems.

Moreover, there seems to be an issue with chromium based browsers now, where full console output takes much more time or, even worse, makes page unresponsive.
