It looks like there are two Nexus plugins, and this is the deprecated one (per https://help.sonatype.com/iqserver/download-and-compatibility and https://help.sonatype.com/integrations/nexus-and-continuous-integration/deprecated-nexus-iq-for-hudson-jenkins-1-x ) that isn't being distributed by the Jenkins project, and whose issues aren't tracked here: https://plugins.jenkins.io/nexus-jenkins-plugin has completely different version numbers..
Please report this to Sonatype.
It is a defect, but we won't fix it since the plugin is outside the Jenkins organization governance.
I have added the plugin to https://wiki.jenkins.io/display/JENKINS/Plugins+affected+by+fix+for+JEP-200

I switched to the plugin maintained by jenkins community https://plugins.jenkins.io/nexus-jenkins-plugin thanks danielbeck for mentioning. Won't report to Sonatype & recommend everybody encountering the same problem to switch plugings which should guarantee greater compatibilaty
I get the following stacktrace when trying to save the "Configure Nexus IQ Plugin" under https://JENKINS_URL/nexus-iq/
I am runngin "Nexus IQ Plugin" 2.16.2-01 with jenkins 2.107.1
