It would be possible to extend the current approach used for exporting animations and allow users to pick a print layout and map item from that layout to use as the base of the animation instead. Then users would have full control to have dynamic scale bars, text, etc in their animations.
If we do this we can't export on background threads though - so there's a bit of rework necessary to generalise the exports accordingly.
