the package not loading in R 4.2.0 on Mac #9

Open MartinBulla opened 2 years ago

MartinBulla commented 2 years ago

Hi Tim,

I have installed the package on Mac Mojave (10.14.6) with R version 4.2.0 (2022-04-22) -- "Vigorous Calisthenics". When loading the package via require(related), I get the following error

loading required package: related Error: package or namespace load failed for ‘related’: package ‘related’ was installed before R 4.0.0: please re-install it

Re-installation of the package does not help. Any thoughts on that?

Looking forward to hearing from you, Martin

Hi Martin:

Yes, I am aware of this problem. I am going to try to fix it this week, and will get back to you then.

Super, Tim. I appreciate it and wish you that the fixing goes smoothly.

Hi Martin:

First, I apologize that it has taken me so long to get around to updating my related R package for R version 4.0 and higher. However, I have done so now, and have updated the installation instructions on a Mac. They are now thoroughly explained on the Github site herehttps://github.com/timothyfrasier/related.

Please let me know if you still run into any problems.

Sincerely, Tim Frasier

Hi Tim,

Thanks a lot for this. It worked.

I was getting the following error [image: image.png] but fixed it by adding type ="source". Perhaps it is worth adding to the manual: install.packages("~/Desktop/related_1.0.tar", repos = NULL,type="source")

Best, Martin

Hi Kat:

Could you please send me the exact commands/process that you used for installation. That would help me trouble-shoot.

Hi Tim,

Appreciate the info for installing on Mac. I followed all the steps but I do come to an error.

Not sure which software this is having an issue with. I do have and have had many different locations for software you mention (e.g., gcc/gfortran) so I wonder if that could be a problem.

Any help on resolving this would be highly appreciated!

Cheers, Kat

Hi Tim,

I already had xcode-select so did not re-install this. I installed XQuartz from the link you provided, installed the appropriate version of gfortran (I have an intel core processor) and adjusted the PATH, I updated my Rstudio, I have R 4.2.0. I re-installed devtools and ggplot2. I downloaded all the .dylib files and placed these in /usr/local/lib/ then downloaded the related.tar.qz and installed from Package Archive File.

versions:

xcode-select version 2373.
GNU Fortran (GCC) 4.8.5
XQuartz 2.8.2 (xorg-server 1.20.14)
RStudio 2022.07.2
devtools_2.4.5
ggplot2_3.4.0

Also, maybe to note within my /usr/local/lib many of the files appear to be hyperlinked to my homebrew 'Cellar', e.g.,

-rw-r--r--@ 1 kprata staff 1.5M 30 Nov 14:42 libgfortran.3.dylib
lrwxr-xr-x    1 kprata  admin    45B 10 Aug  2021 libgif.7.2.0.dylib -> ../Cellar/giflib/5.2.1/lib/libgif.7.2.0.dylib

Except those .dylib files I placed there, which are also not executable.

Cheers, Kat
