As:
A user

I want to be able to:
See how long a merge is expected to take (perhaps based on previous 
merges/bench-marks).

So that I can:
Do something else while I'm waiting, or plan ahead.

(This may go hand-in-hand with features to off-load to a "background-process", 
where the server does the work without interaction from the client.)
