Use Structured Data #194

It would be great if mapwarper directly added structured data statements with the coordinates instead of using unstructured text.

Thanks for the issue, could you explain a little bit more?

There is an API which returns data in JSON format which might help?

Much like Wikidata, Commons now allows describing images with structured, machine-readable statements. See the structured data tab on this image, for example: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Comiss%C3%A3o_cient%C3%ADfica_francesa_do_tr%C3%A2nsito_de_Venus_de_1874_destinada_ao_Jap%C3%A3o.png

Thanks. So the question would be. How to do this, what should it look like, what needs to change.

is this just for the wikimedia mapwarper or for the main one?

In other words, from the title of the phabricator ticket, we need to answer: "Investigate how Wikimaps Warper can benefit from structured data". I currently do not know.
