monokai creating odd colors in terminal emacs #9

I'm using gnome shell (and have installed base-16-monokai for it); when running base16-monokai for emacs, I get the correct colors in Gnu emacs but not in terminal mode.

Using color-theme-approximate I've gotten colors to load appropriately. In retrospect, this was obvious, as the theme isn't a terminal theme.
