Can we setup a discord for live discussion? #32

It would make discussions less trackable. And not very inclusive for new contributors. Since it would be hard for them to catch up on topics. So I'm a little against it. But if we set one up, we should at least make sure the outcome and the rational is documented in guthub

I don't think discord implies moving all serious discussion to discord. I think they'll still be plenty of traffic On github issues.

I just think sometimes it's nice to have a place to hang out and discuss some issues in real time.

There are a few of us in #base16 on Libera Chat, an IRC server. It's a bit of a dated technology, but it doesn't require us to set up and maintain a separate Discord server.

I'll add that information to the README.

If we outgrow that channel, I'd be happy to set up a Discord server.

One last thought then: I'd argue IRC isn't nearly as accessible to normal people as Discord - who are likely already using it for other chats anyways. I think Discord is the new IRC - for non-geeks.

The fact that you can't just link me to IRC - but you have to link me to a page that directs me to choose, then install software that I need to configure just to access it... ugh. :-)

Seems to artificially limit the community. Food for thought.

Note that Libera Chat also has a Matrix Bridge. Matrix might be easier/more convenient for some users.
