how to submit repos to base16-project-contrib? #62

Closed DanManN closed 8 months ago

It seems to me the organization is currently private and I can't figure out how to submit my repositories there:

https://github.com/DanManN/base16-xresources https://github.com/DanManN/base16-rofi

JamyGolden commented 2 years ago

Why do you want to put them under base16-project-contrib? We use that organization for repos that we don't support, but don't want to delete. You've done some work on the repos you linked to very recently, so I'm guessing what you actually want is to transfer to base16-project.

I see that the two repos are forks. We don't host any forked repos in base16-project, but you have done some nice work on them. I suggest we contact the original maintainers and see if they're interested in being maintainers of the project along with you under the base16-project umbrella. If they're interested, we can transfer their repos (if they have forks and stars associated with the repo) to base16-project and move across your commits so no history is lost. If they're not interested, we can do a hard fork and you can be a maintainer of the projects. We can communicate with them through this github issue.

Does that sound good to you?

DanManN commented 2 years ago

Sure, sounds good to me. I suspect dkasak won't be interested since his last commit was 10 years ago but perhaps jordiorlando might be. Good to ask anyway though.

@dkasak @jordiorlando: here is a brief backstory on what base16-project is: https://github.com/base16-project/home/issues/51

We're currently still looking for more collaborators, are you two interested in moving base16-xresources and base16-rofi to the base16-project umbrella and joining base16-project as maintainers of the respective projects (and or other projects)?

dkasak commented 2 years ago

My only commit was adding a bunch of newlines to that and I haven't been using base16-xresources for quite a while, so I'll skip but thanks for offering :)

JamyGolden commented 2 years ago

Ah right, I see https://github.com/pinpox/base16-xresources has become the most "up to date" version and belak has a commit in there too. @pinpox are you interested?

pinpox commented 2 years ago

I don't have much time at the moment to maintain base16 themes, but if you want to leave a PR I can review and merge it.

JamyGolden commented 2 years ago

@pinpox are you interested in joining the base16-project umbrella (and transfering the repo) and continuing to be a maintainer on that repo (you can also be a not-super-active maintainer)? (https://github.com/base16-project/home/issues/51 for quick backstory)

Sure, let know what I have to do.

I've sent an org invite to you, you should be able to transfer in the repo settings at the bottom of the page.

done

jordiorlando commented 2 years ago

@JamyGolden I'm also interested in transferring base16-rofi to the base16-project umbrella, but I don't think I'll really contribute in the future as I no longer use Rofi. Let me know what you think.

JamyGolden commented 2 years ago

@jordiorlando I've just sent an invite to the base16-project org, so you should be able to transfer the projects now. No problem that you won't maintain it, we can find others to continue with it :) If you ever want to maintain any projects in future just let us know.

Done!

I'm closing this for now since all the repos in this ticket seem to have been transferred. If anyone has issues transferring in new repos, please feel free to open a new ticket.
