NCurses programs break colors #21

Describe the bug

Using an ncurses based program, such as tig or ranger, will break the colors when you return to your normal terminal. Colors can be restored by running the appropriate base16- command again

Expected behavior

The colors should not break when exiting an ncurses app

System

Operating system: MacOS 12.6

Terminal:

iTerm2 Build 3.5.0beta8
xterm-256color
fish-shell
tomorrow-night theme

Additional context

This does not happen if the TERM is set to something like xterm-new

I tried this on a Linux machine with both the default terminal and Alacritty but didn't notice this issue. I'll test this out on my mac later this week. @paradox460 should I have run into the error you mentioned above in this gif:

I've tested this out on MacOS in fish shell and don't have these issues.

Are you using the latest base16-shell?
How do you initialise base16-shell? What command do you run in your fish script files for example.
Try using the default system terminal
