I'm seeing the same behaviour (HTC Desire, 2.2, rooted but running stock Sense
-> Ubuntu 10.04 via WiFi global broadcast).
Additionally: activating Remote Notifier by selecting it from the notification
drop down on the phone fixes the problem and subsequent notifications appear on
my PC as expected.

I suspect it happens because android suspends the services once you leave wifi.
As far as i know, when you have service sticked in Ongoing notifications it is
never suspended. To stick it there tick on "Show notification icon" under
Notification Service in android-notifier.
It worked for me several times today, hopefully it really fixes the problem.

I have the same problem dispite having the notification icon on top all the
time. I'm not only using Wifi, but also on the go syncing via 3G. The
applications seems to drop dead as soon as I switch access point. The status
logs tells me that the message was sent with both UDP and TCP.

True, enabling icon didnt help...
Ok, here is a work around i setup today:
Create a new profile in Tasker with "Wifi connected" context.
Add there Load App task and tell it to call Remote Notifier
Next add Go Home action.
It works fine all day for me, only issue there that when you connect to a wifi
it will always leave whatever app you had opened and go to home screen, but it
does not cause any inconsistences to me.

Thanks!
Trying that right now, but does that help when switchin from Wifi to 3G? (eg.
leaving house)

Do you have it setup to notify when you are on 3g too?
Looks like remote notifier stopping working is not related to wifi disconnect
as i was at home all evening and while it was showing notifications earlier it
stopped doing it now for some reason, i had to manually open app to fix it...

Yes I would like to send notifications via 3G as well, e.g. Notifications
triggered by Tasker when I'm on my way home. The incoming calls/sms
notifications seem to work more often than the 3rd party notifications from
Tasker (which almost never works unless I restart my phone and stay within the
same cell).
I guess two-way communication is not possible within this app? Would be nice to
see if the message sent reached it´s recipient or not.

Confirmed, I'm having 2 wifi networks, one at home, one at office. After
comming to office, wifi reconnects automaticaly, but notifier does not send
notifications to new network.
I'm having icon of notifier in notification bar. Once I enter notifier via
notification bar, instantly popups notification on my ubuntu with battery
status. After that notifications work.

I'm having the same issue as commenter 8. Despite setting it to run on boot it
appears as android is unloading the service. Only when I run the application
does it once again enable notifications.
I'm using UDP broadcasting and Cyanogenmod 7 Rc2 and my wifi policy is set to
never sleep. Might I suggest that if the service is running to send a heartbeat
message when wifi reconnects.

I am having the same issue..
A way around this is to use tasker..create an event "on wifi connect" to open
android notify then to "go home"

Confirmed, i'm having the same issue over MacOSX and Linux, and with Froyo and
Gingerbread, any solution except for the tasker? Thanks!
