I have found that when powering the TinyFPGA-BX from a "dumb" power supply the bootloader does not start and therefore the last loaded program is not loaded until the reset button is pressed.
tinyprog shows the board with a 1.0.0 bootloader, and says that the bootloader is at the newest version.
I had the same issue when powering a TinyFPGA Bx with 3.3v directly to the 3.3v pin. After removing 3.3v to the 3.3v pin and applying 3.3v to the VIN pin the TinyFPGA booted upon power up as expected.
