Backspacing in WYSIWYG editor is slow or crashing IE8 #1140

Description of problem: the client PC's are WinXP Pro and are using IE8. When using the backspace to delete content the browser becomes slow or crashes. We have tried in compatibility mode and the issue still occurs.

TinyMCE is used in a CMS (EPiServer).

Issue does not occur in FF, Chrome or IE9 and IE10, only IE8.

Steps to reproduce: 1.enter some text in the wysiwyg editor and backspace to delete them. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Expected result: delete as normal with no issues

Actual result: is slow or IE8 will crash

Any help to resolve this would be much appreciated.
