M3 screw's head is 2mm in height - therefore min thickness of each part which should be able to hide screw's head has to be >= 2mm

the leaves inside (3 solid parts) may be done by bending steel plates - the design will be simpler but we do not have any reason to have the insides massive. They can be glued to the base with silicon or screwed to the base.
