IE9 ID card plugin not working, if Thunderbird is started before id card inserted into reader

Steps to reproduce:
1.Start Thunderbird
2.Start IE
3.Insert ID card
4.Navigate to www.swedbank.ee and try to login using id card 

Expected vs actual:
Expected - Pin 1 is asked
Instead - mesage that login is not entered

Soft/Hard versions:
Win7 home premium 32bit
ID kaardi haldusvahend 3.5.5442.5471, 10.11.2011
Eesti ID kaardi tarkvara 3.5.5474.617
OMNIKEY 4321
IE9
Thunderbird 9.0.1

Please provide any additional information below:
Sampo showing now error with id card communication, before there was just 
browser - error opening page.

To be able to login, i must close all instances of Thunderbird and IE, remove 
and insert again id card, then start once again IE.
If Thunderbird is started after insertion of id card, this problem is not 
appeared, until you reinsert id card.
Also if use FF(8) instead of IE, in most cases i will be able to login, but 
sometimes i see there same errors.
