iPhone could not be restored!!! (And doesnt work at all anymore....) #21

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I tried to unlock my iphone as i need to use it with a german sim, i
followed those instructions: http://iphone.unlock.no/.
it worked all fine until the very end when it said: "oops, there was a
error" (or something like that.)
2. First, the phone went back activation screen, so i tried to start from
scratch but could not even make emergency calls. I connected it to iTunes
and that said that the sim card was unregistered.
3. So I tried to restore it but each and everytime I only get an error at
the end. (iPhone could not be restored, unknown error.)
I think the baseband is flashed and that's why it won't restore. But how to
flash it again without having it work at all???

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I just want it to restore!!!! Or virginize or whatever....

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Firmware was updated to 1.1.1 before starting to unlock it.

Please provide any additional information below.

I can not go to a Apple Store as I life in Germany...
I also tried downloading a new iTunes version, restoring to 1.0.2. etc.
Nothing worked.

So now I am really desperate and would be EXTREMLY GRATEFUL for any advice!

Thanks so much in advance,
Laura

Can you please provide more information? I don't understand exactly what the
problem
is. Please be very verbose as there are many things that can go wrong and it's
very
hard to guess which one it might be.

lsdornheim, you may downgrade the firmware by Shift+Restore, but you need to
make
iphone into DFU mode first, otherwise iTunes will complain with an unknown (1)
error
and not even try to restore.

Do this...

1. Make sure your iPhone is connected to the PC

2. Make sure iTunes is open.

3. Now Hold SLEEP+HOME buttons on the iPhones for approximately 10 seconds.

4. As soon as the "connect to iTunes logo" (the one which shows you the white
USB
cable and the iTunes logo) disappears, let go of the SLEEP button but continue
holding the HOME button for as long as it takes.

Note:
Ignore the black screen on the iPhone and continue holding the HOME button.
Trust
me!! Again make sure your iPhone is connected to the PC and iTunes is open.

5. iTunes should automatically detect your iPhone in recovery mode and will now
give
you the option of restoring your firmware.

6. Hold on to the SHIFT button (Windows) and click RESTORE and choose the
firmware
1.0.2 file from your local machine to start restoring.

7. Your iPhone should now restore properly (without throwing the "unknown"
error).
The restore should error out in sometime and you should now be able to see the
YELLOW
TRIANGLE saying "Connect to iTunes".

8. Now you can go ahead and use "AppTapp Installer" to activated your iPhone
with
firmware 1.0.2.

Hope this helps!

Here´s how to do it:
Download firmware 2.2.1, and do a regular restore. And then wait for Itunes to
recognize the phone.

Then go to Windows and use the quickpwn tutorial:
http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1880. If you are using a Mac,
install
a virtual machine. Or ask someone to lend you a Pc.

If you are using one of the new Mac´s(silver models) use a usb hub.
I have a regular Macbook, and I tried using the usb hub in MacOs, and use Pwnage
software, but it gave me the error 1600. If you don´t use the hub it will give
you
the error 21.
When I used the quickpwn in windows without the hub it still gave me the error
21.
When I used the usbhub in Windows it worked fine. Iphone is now in firmware
2.2.1,
activated, unlocked and jailbroken.

So, to sum up, if you are using a new Mac, use a usb hub. And use quickpwn in
windows. Obviously you will need a virtual machine, I used VMware fusion.
