Game can't be made to run with proton

Expected behavior

Game installs fine and runs when proton is selected as compatibility layer

Actual behavior

Game (witcher 1 enhanced edition from gog. installer files were downloaded from the website) installs fine. tried installing through wine, innoextract and proton, in case of wine, it runs fine with wine after installation, however if installed by innoextract/proton, it doesn't run with anything

Steps to reproduce

get witcher 1 enhanced on gog, link gog to gamehub, download the game offline installer from the gog website and install it in gamehub by dropping the installer in collections
if installed by wine, everything works normally except that it crashes if launched with proton
if installed by innoextract/proton, it refuses to launch with both wine and proton

Environment Distro: Zorin OS 16 DE: zorin:GNOME GTK: 3.24.20 Themes: ZorinBlue-Dark | kora

Similar situation with Control Ultimate Edition from GOG. With wine win64 it install and launch fine but it crashes before the menu. With proton (either experimental, latest or 6.3) it doesn't install and close itself. If I launch the wine installed version with proton, it launch but it has no audio whatsoever.

tried setting that to both "$HOME/.steam/steam" and "$HOME/.local/share/Steam", no difference. tried using proton 5.13, still no difference
