The title is ambiguous and sounds like generalized API design, while this book is specifically about HTTP API design.

"Consumer-Centric HTTP API Design" perhaps?

It doesn't quite roll off the tongue as much as the current title "Consumer-Centric API Design", though it's a bit shorter than the first title: "A Consumer-Centric Approach to RESTful API Design" ;)
