Stock browser page loading issues after BR4 #106

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Device: Inspire
Problem versions: BR5-BR7
Last version working properly: BR4
Service: ATT
Wireless vs Mobile: no change
Radio: Doesn't matter, have tried at least the last six available and makes no
difference - all same results on BR5-BR7.

Seems on some devices (my Inspire and noticed a few other posts on the forums
also) that the stock browser is not loading pages properly/completely. The
last version where stock browser does not hang or freeze loading pages is BR4.
Have noticed the problem seems to have been introduced in BR5 and has continued
for me up through BR7. I have full wiped each time testing, and have not
loaded any additional apps or adjusted any settings before launching the
browser. I just went back through the versions again today to confirm.

What happens is that either after loading a few pages, the progress bar will
not continue, and can get stuck at any point from beginning to end of page
loading. At which point, going back, refreshing, exiting and relaunching never
seem to load the pages again. I have found that going into manage apps ->
browser -> and clearing cache and data seems to help, but only briefly as the
browser will have the same issue shortly after relaunch again.

Attaching a few logs. Working one from BR4 and a few non-working from BR5. I
can attach others from BR6-BR7, but as the problem for me only started
appearing since BR5, thought to start there.

There was a ton of webkit commits pushed in BR4 so chances are one of them is
causing this, or at least it gives a place to start. Is there any specific
webpage that this happens every time with, or is it random?

With BR5 through BR7 it's always reproducible for me, but no specific sites.
Usually happens after trying to load 4 or 5 sites. Though I can tell it's
happening because it will take longer and longer for them to fully load, until
it just stops and wont go any further. Sometimes it happens right from the
start.

Alright, thank you.. Ill try and see if I can reproduce this. As I mentioned,
there were quite a few updates to webkit in BR5 so im going to start there.
Most of them were only html5/video related, and/or WebAudio support for html5,
but there were some changes to the way it caches certain things so Ill start
with that. Most of the commits depends on the previous one, so it might take me
some time to find/remove/fix the one causing it.

I have a feeling Issue 102 is related to this, so I merged it into this one.
Since both are similar and others have reported this on XDA, ill go ahead and
mark this 'Verified'.

I too am suffering this issue on my Desire HD. A good target site to repeat
this issue is xda forum. a cache issue does fit the symptoms maybe a timeout
issue with other content from the page.
