Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Build: aospX 1.0.0-AR25 with inspiremod-0.5.zip (Happened in AR24 also).

Hold down power button, select power off.
Receive message: Your phone will shut down - press OK.
Phone restarts instead. Cannot shut down phone.

Reproducible: 100%

Phone type: HTC Inspire 4G

Nothing crazy done to phone, nothing restored, just full wipe/flash.

I am unable to reproduce this issue.., Holding power button to bring up
Shutdown options and selecting Power Off -> Ok will shut mine down correctly.

I need a clean logcat log while performing these actions before I can even do
anything. I also need you to do this after a full wipe (data/factory reset)
without installing/restoring any apps, just try to reproduce it on a clean
install and give me the logcat log (even if you already done a clean install).

You can get a logcat output of this by doing the following here:

Anyone else able to reproduce?

This is just after a full wipe and reinstall. Nothing loaded or added. Phone
will shutdown, then reboot - though I've noticed different amounts of time from
where it's shutdown from. If plugged in, will reboot to recovery. If not
plugged in, will just reboot normally. Did notice that when clean installed,
if I reboot right from the lock screen, it takes right around 30 seconds from
shutdown to start back up again on it's own. If I'm past the lock screen,
takes around 4.5 minutes to reboot on it's own from shutdown. If I shutdown
the 2nd way, I cannot even press the button to start the phone back up. I need
to wait until the 4.5 minutes for it to come back on it's own. That's all
after a clean install. Before I wiped/reinstalled, it would only take the 30
seconds to restart after shutting down. Hopefully I didn't make it that
confusing. If you need more logs let me know.

I did see that it looks like someone else may have run into this - they left a
post but didn't seem to ever reply back on the issue...

Thanks for the log, ill start looking into it ASAP and try to reproduce it on
my end (will be alot easier if I can).. I doubt anything will be fixed in
upcoming release (AR26), I had planned on releasing it within next day or so,
but after this release I will start investigating and try to see if i can
reproduce it and hopefully get a fix.

Thanks, no rush on this - it's not often that I need to fully power down the
phone. Whenever you get a chance to look is fine, and let me know if you need
me to test anything or provide any more info.

So with AR28, no change. However I found that if I try shutting down with the
cable connected (to power or usb), it does seem to shut down correctly (well
the screen backlight does come on after about 10 seconds) but that's about it.
I can also use the power button then and have it start up like it should.
There is still an issue though, because if I have the cable plugged in and shut
down, if I pull the cable it will start up as soon as I unplug it (without
hitting power). By the way this isn't new to AR28, I just haven't had the time
to post this here in a while.

Happy to say I've found the problem, this issue can be closed. Turns out it
was being caused by the radio version. This was a replacement Inspire and
seems I had never changed the radio from the original
12.39a.60.19x_26.06.06.30_M. Installed 12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M tonight, and
now shutdown works properly. Tested multiple times and no further problems,
it's working just as it should now.
