Random Reboot

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Need a little bit more info... Does it happen on a full clean wipe/install? 
Without any apps/data restored? ..etc..etc.. If you havent tried, then I need 
to know if it happens after a full data wipe/factory reset, without any apps or 
data installed. Then start installing your apps back one at time, testing in 
between to make sure it doesnt happen again...and so on. 

Also need to know if theres any specific tasks that triggers this..  Need alil 
more info than it just reboots please.

It just started happening like around one week after the AR31 update. I usually 
have no errors installing any type of ROM on my Inspire, but it started to do 
this after the AR31 update. It's always a full factory reset and wipe/dalvik 
cache. I let it run without any apps installed for like awhile and it still 
reset. It's not application based for sure.

I have tried using a different ROM and it seems to happen as well, but once 
like every six hours probably; its less on different ROMs unlike this one. 
Sadly; the AospX rom is my favourite so far so I really hope this gets fix.

Please remember that the "random reboot issue" happen after the AR31 update.

This is also an issue with the AT&T stock rom's, my phone started doing this 
about two months ago, thats why I decided to try a custom rom to see if that 
fixed the issue and it doesn't. I am replacing my battery now.

Ok, since this issue is kind of vague and not something really rom specific, im 
going to close the ticket for now. If you can pinpoint the actual cause of the 
reboot (theres usually no "random" to it, usually a certain task, setting, or 
possibly a hardware issue causes the reboot), then please open a new ticket, 
along with logcat and detailed steps on how to reproduce the issue (if your 
overclocking/undervolting, then set everything back to stock values to make 
sure its not causing it). 

But if this is something, either it be hardware related and/or just a 
DHD/Inspire bug which happens on various roms, then theres probably not much I 
can do (unless the exact cause is pinpointed).

Just as follow up: did you look at the cyanogenmod issue tracker?  According to 
last_kmsg, the issue appears to be "ARM9 has CRASHED".  Also, there aren't any 
reboots when I put the phone in airplane mode, thus leading me to think it's a 
kernel/radio issue or some sort of overheating problem (but I know very little 
about such things).  Not sure if this is useful/helpful in narrowing things 
down or it still could be anything.

The discussion about the issue on CM7 did no help for me. This "random reboot" 
started only recently around a year and three months after I had gotten the 
Inspire 4g. I can't PIN POINT the cause? I'm just a regular guy. All I know is 
it likes to randomly reboot on it's on. I have no control over it? I can leave 
it there for a day and it'll randomly reboot with no apps running or any other 
services on. Everything works fine, but the incessant reboot has been a little 
bothersome.

LITERALLY EVERYTHING WORKS FINE; ITS JUST THE REBOOT that I'm annoyed with. The 
radio/kernel is the one that was with the AOSP rom provided by existz. 

I might just be thinking it is a hardware issue itself. There is no overheating 
since   the phone has no physical signs of it...as in temperatures.

It seems to be ROM related, at least in my case. Prior to installing AOSPx, my 
phone began to reboot 'randomly'. Frustrated, I decided to flash an ICS ROM to 
see if maybe the issue had been fixed. To no avail, the phone would reboot 
10-20 times a day. Recently flashed Android Revolution 7.??? along with using 
the zip to return the phone back to 1 GHz. For a week, I had no more reboots so 
I reflashed the BR4 only to have the phone reboot 3 times within 30 minutes. So 
could this be a result of ROM's using governors to over/under clock the CPU's?

So it seems that replacing the SIM card might be the solution.  I recommend 
those having this problem get a new SIM and see if that helps.  Worked for 2 
people that I know of.

I know I'm a bit late to this party, but I had the same reboot issue.  I 
flashed the 12.59.60.26U_26.11.04.21_M radio and no more reboots.

I had the same radio as stated in comment 10 (12.59.60.26X_26.11.04.21M) while 
I was having the reboot issues. After seeing the post about changing radios, I 
updated to the newest radio pushed out by AT&T and to my surprise I have not 
had a single reboot since.
